Overview

A very beautiful and opulent French daybed or chaise longue in fine African mahogany from the Directoire period which preceded Napoleon's empire and followed the reign of Louis XVI. The panels of the side and foot rails are carved with rosettes, and the posts are scrolled and embellished with carved flowers and foliage. Daybed rests on carved lions' paw feet, France, circa 1790s.
Our French polish and restoration is of museum quality. This exquisite daybed has been French-polished and expertly re-upholstered in a neutral Robert Allen cream-colored twill.
