An impressively beautiful and rare Chinese architectural surround of intricately & finely-carved wood with gilding, depicting foo dogs & birds that include ibis & starlings perched on branches with peonies & plum flowers. Qing Dynasty, circa early 1700's or possibly earlier.

Purchased in Paris from a chateau that was using it as an entrance to an indoor garden, it comes apart in three sections.
