Overview
An intricately-carved Anglo-Indian Davenport desk with all-over flower and foliate design with hinged slant-top writing surface. Features carved supports depicting griffins - mythological creatures that were half eagle and half lion - denoting strength, military courage and leadership, and guardians of treasure. Offers a secret drawer that springs open, above cabinet housing four storage drawers, circa 1870.
