Overview

An exceptional example of the late 19th century, German Gründerzeit period, this desk features an upper cabinet with two bonnets decorated with scallop shell carvings and finials, carved snail appliqués and fluted pilasters, which are repeated in the bottom section. Door panels are in burled walnut veneer surrounded by flat cut walnut veneer and solid walnut. There are four cabinet areas with doors for storage and four drawers. Desk top has the original inset brown leather. Key plates and pulls are original, as well as the turned feet. Has original working locks with several keys. There is enough room to for a lap top on the work surface, Germany, circa 1880.
