Overview
A lovely antique country cupboard in scrubbed European pine with open dish rack that rests on a cabinet with two doors that have raised panels & offers spacious storage. Northern Germany, circa early to mid 1800's. Fabrication consists of lap joint and mortise-and-tenon construction with wooden pegs serving to fasten the lower cabinet together, and fastened with iron nails on the top. The color of the pine wood is a beautiful light-honey tone.

Refinished. Additions or alterations made to the original: This pine cupboard or dresser is a marriage of two pieces from roughly the same period. While they fit very well together, they did not originally go together. Wear consistent with age and use. "Scrubbed European pine" refers to the refinishing of antique pine furniture where the original painted and/or tooled finish and the subsequent layers of paint have been scrubbed away leaving the original pine wood that subsequently has been waxed.
