Overview

An extremely handsome secretary in fine West Indies mahogany with pedestal top above top drawer, and a birch inlaid drop-front opening to a desk with a long open storage area for papers below a series of fitted drawers that are in mahogany banded in satinwood with turned, ebonized pulls and mother-of-pearl backplates. The central, small enclosed cubby is also in figured mahogany with banding in rosewood. Offered below desk, are three storage drawers of staggered depths. The figured grain is book-matched throughout the front of the secretary, with half columns enhancing the Silhouette on each side. The secretary rests on carved lion's paw feet. Denmark, circa 1825.
The refined and quiet elegance of this lovely secretary would pair nicely in a very modern interior, adding a romantic element and offering historical grounding.
Original interior turned and ebonized drawer pulls with mother of pearl back plates. Piece is all original with some veneer restoration and French polishing. Comes with working locks and keys.
Measure: 43.5" wide x 22" deep x 51" high (with open drop-front 37" deep; desk surface 31" high).
