Overview

A very beautiful French Colonial bed in West Indies walnut with turned posts and paneled headboard with double-arched pediment top and scalloped sides. Likely from Haiti, circa 1830.
This early 19th century Caribbean four poster bed was purchased in Haiti over 30 years ago and brought to the US in its original unaltered form. The bed is pegged together and made from Juglans Jamaicensis, also known as "nogal" or "palo de nuez", which is a species of walnut indigenous to Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Puerto Rico. The wood has a beautiful rich patina! The bed can be altered by us to fit a standard king size if desired.
