Overview
An early 20th century African chieftain chair from the Oromo people in the eastern part of Ethiopia. The Oromo chairs and seats are all identifiable by their distinctive style, with three outwardly curved round legs, a round carved seat and a high back, typically without any decoration. Each chair is carved out of a single block of wood and was reserved for male leaders of the village. Ethiopia, circa 1900.
