Overview
A lovely and well-proportioned marquetry sofa with arched back, scroll arms and short Grecian curved legs in mahogany embellished with inlays of festoons, bows, tulips and foliage. Northern Europe, circa 1820. Provenance: From the estate of Thure and Najma Jansson. Thure Jansson (born in Stehag in 1886) was the founder of the newspaper NST. Jansson was active in the struggle against Nazism, both under the signature "Three Roses" and in Germany where he smuggled Jews out of the country, for which he was awarded several orders.
