Overview

A very lovely Christian VIII round pedestal dining table in fine West Indies mahogany with 5 extension leaves. Skirted round top rests on center pedestal featuring a baluster-turned column with acanthus carvings over a tripod base that ends in carved lion's paw feet with foliate design. Denmark, circa 1830.

Table starts off as a 47 1/2" round & opens to 165" (13' 9") when fully extended.

There are (2) leg supports that drop down when the table is extended beyond (1) leaf. The leg supports are original. They are set back 12" from the top's perimeter at each end of the table so as to provide ample comfort. These leg supports fold up under the table when the table is reduced to 71". Restored with French polish in our workshop.

Measurements:
Round Table: 47 1/2" diameter; 30" high
With 1 leaf: 71" long x 47 1/2" wide x 30" high (NO leg supports needed)
With 2 leaves: 94 1/2" long x 47 1/2" wide x 30" high (leg supports needed from this point further)
With 3 leaves: 118" long x 47 1/2" wide x 30" high
With 4 leaves: 141 1/2" long x 47 1/2" wide x 30" high
With 5 leaves: 165" long x 47 1/2" wide x 30" high

Note: With all 5 leaves, the center pedestal is off center. While the slide mechanism is original and will & has always accommodated it, we are treating this leaf as a bonus. We don't recommend it as a permanent option unless additional supports are added but it will work fine in a pinch to extend seating by 2 additional guests.
All 5 leaves are housed in a wooden leaf box that is included.
