A grand Armoire in French walnut from the period of Louis XV, who ruled France from 1715 to 1774. A fine example from the Lyon region of France, renown in the 1700's for its superior production of armoires. Features a thick stepped and curved crown molding whose center is adorned with a cartouche of carved, stylized acanthus leaves. Each of two doors has three raised curvi-linear panels of figured walnut bordered by carved thick moldings. Sides also exhibit a beautiful configuration of variously shaped panels. With scalloped apron and carved escargot feet, and original steel lock and hinges.
