A beautiful French dower or wedding armoire in oak from Caen in Normandy. Offers well-articulated carvings of basket and rinceau of grapes and grape leaves on frieze, with scallops, roses, foliage and more grapes embellishing doors. This mortise and tenon cabinet with pegged construction has a brass wire panel (added at some point) in the upper door panels, with two interior shelves. The square feet that extend from the frame show signs of having been restored to the original design.
