Overview
A long elm-wood Altar/ Console Table with everted flanges or 'qiaotou' (commonly called "birds wings"), supported on recessed trestle legs with carved, stylized ruyi, a sacred fungus, and with lingzhi carvings on corner spandrels of apron, symbolizing happiness, wealth and longevity. Shanxi Province, China, 19th Century
Original dark brown lacquer finish.

Dimensions: 91.5" long x 17.5" deep x 38" high (35" high from floor to serving surface).
Materials and Techniques: Lacquered Elm
Condition: Good. Top panel that is mortised into the frame has contracted enough to leave a small gap between the frame and edge of panel. there is an excellent photograph of the top.
