Overview
A handsome early American empire/classical pembroke table in fine West Indies mahogany with solid rectangular top offering two hinged drop-leaves with "S" shaped, rounded corners. Table offers one long drawer with convex front and is supported by a baluster-turned column resting on convex quatre-form base with carved lion's paw feet on casters. Embellishments include turned inverted finials on corners of apron and carved acanthus foliage above the feet. Also features a lovely play of wood grains with beautiful figuring on the top and crotch veneer along the fascia of the apron. Philadelphia, circa 1830. Restored with French polish in our workshop. Makes a lovely breakfast table, auxiliary dining table or even a games table!
