Antique Austro-Hungarian Pot Cupboard or Nightstand in European Pine, circa 1880

Austro-Hungarian pot cupboard or nightstand in scrubbed & waxed European pine offering a paneled drawer above a paneled cabinet with fluted pilasters on the sides & carved decorative escutcheons. Cabinet comes with brass pulls, interior shelving & rests on bun feet, with traditional block feet on the back. Close in form to its German counterpart but the carved nuts located just under the drawers would indicate that it is Austro-Hungarian, circa 1880. Originally, it would have been tooled & grained to simulate walnut or mahogany. It was stripped by hand of the dark finish & waxed to celebrate the beauty of the natural wood which is a light honey in color. Makes a lovely end table or storage cupboard in a bathroom!
