A fine English pedestal desk in mahogany with cylinder-top opening to an ample desk surface offering a row of open cubbies above a row of four small desk drawers. Pull-out desk surface has four original, tooled green-leather inset panels, the center tilts to provide a book rest for reading and the left panel is hinged offering additional hidden storage. Also features two open surface compartments for clips, pens and pencils. Pedestals provide a total of six large storage drawers. All original locks (with inscription "Lever") and turned wooden pulls. The mahogany used has a lovely grain and a beautiful, rich patina acquired over its long history and enhanced by a hard wax finish, England, circa 1850. A great working desk that is both handsome and practical!

Should file drawers be needed, we can offer to join two drawers to create the space needed, for an additional cost.
