Overview

A lovely Edwardian knee-hole desk or vanity table in satinwood with bell flower-swag decoration, England, circa 1900. While providing an ample work area & seven storage drawers, this fine desk appears diminutive in scale because of its turned & reeded legs which gives it an added lightness, in combination with the light-colored finish of the satin wood. The painted bell flower swags edge the inlaid banded top, and embellish the corners and the drawer fronts. The center drawer with its inlaid decorative ribbing is concave while the drawers flanking it on each pedestal are convex. The original hardware with round brass key plates & pulls add subtle details that enhance the overall beauty. Desk has the original finish which is in excellent condition. Also, since the back is finished in polished satin wood, the desk can float in a room.
Makes a beautiful dressing table with a mirror hanging above the surface!
