Overview

A rare precursor to our modern refrigerator and freezer, this rustic cabinet in pine has an interior that is lined with zinc and a central compartment where the ice was kept, Northern Europe, circa mid to late 1800s. It features original hardware and the zinc patten label on the front. Cabinet was finished with a hand rubbed tung oil and the top was finished with a LEED certified organic finishing oil.

Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Cabinet is rustic but in good mechanical condition with wear consistent with age and use. There are minor losses, a separated panel on the left door and some minor corrosion on the zinc. Inside bottom has been reinforced to support zinc liner.
